Expansion: Now what?

Joe Schaad is saying A&M is "very serious" about joining the SEC, with little more the dotting i's and crossing t's for finalization. Now, it is Schaad, and therefore perfectly possible of being proven completely bullshii when all is said and done. But the smoke is growing, and there seems to be fire here. So the question comes in, with adding A&M, what next? We all know this is step one, so what's the next step? If A&M bolts, the Big 12 is dead, so who picks the bones of Oklahoma, Okie St, Missouri, and maybe Kansas or Texas Tech (as Iowa St, Baylor and K St are Conference USA fits, and Texas independent). The Pac 12 may well make a bee line for some of those teams, the Big We Can't Count may make a move for another. The Big East already jumped for TCU, so adding Kansas or another would make sense. And you know the WAC or Conference USA will come hard trying to gain relevance.

But what will the SEC do? Missou seems like a quasi-fit, with the Oklahoma schools more beneficial. But the real prize could come from gutting the ACC. Could we snag Miami and FSU to lock up the Sunshine State? Can we steal the Virginia or North Carolina schools?

If you can steal 8 from the ACC (FSU, Miami, Virginia, Va Tech, and the Tobacco Road quartet), expand to 24 and blow it out. Logistically, it'll be a nightmare, but no more than the nightmare of 16 but with the benefit of owning the entire college-athletics-crazed south. And while some may want Tech or Clemson, we already have Auburn sans the lake, so no need for the tiggies and they can go be a Conference USA school where they could at least finally compete for championships. As for the Nerds, they were SEC and chose to leave. Just another example of their lacking intelligence and they can take their arrogant selfs to the Southern Conference to compete for Academic Bowls with in Furman, Wofford, etc. Maryland and BC would of course become Big East.

If the seccession plan of 24 fails because the Tar Heels are scared, you just steal A&M, Missouri, and the two Okie schools, going to 16 and sliding Alabama and Auburn to the East. So that's the next step to watch; the fight between us vs. the Pac 12 for the Chokers and T Boone Pickens. Missouri is a tag along; better than Texas Tech or Baylor, but if the Texas legislature demands we take one of A&M's kid sisters, we can dump them with ease.
