Our secret weapon

That's what scout team QB and walk on Michael Tamburo looked like a year ago.

This is what he looks like now (the one in the middle).

Kellen Moore is a lefty with experience in Chris Peterson's offense. Our scout team QB, former North Gwinnett star Tamburo, is a lefty with experience in Chris Peterson's offense. If anything, our defense has been given a great look and should be as well prepared for this game as possible. We're getting healthier and also getting ESPN's #1 crew of Nessler and Blackledge, which is nice.

  1. I've heard this one too. But Peterson doesn't care. Peterson's holding open practices. He's basically saying "Richt, here's my plays, I can run em better than you can stop me". And Richt is holding closed practices. Peterson thinks his ability to run his plays is better than Richt's. He doesn't think anyone can stop him, even if they have a playbook.

  2. Peterson better hope his guys can execute on offense better than we do on defense because his Jimmys and Joes aren't as talented as the ones lining up across from his guys. I'm not saying we'll win based purely on talent, but other than at QB (I would rather have Murray) and the starting RB, would you rather have our depth chart or their depth chart?

  3. It's not talent son, Richt's had top 5 talent. It's your ability to execute. Boise has a bunch of 3 stars, but you can't run your plays better than they run theirs. Moore, not highly touted, is 38-2 as a starter, Murray, highly touted, is 6-7 as a starter.

  4. I do agree Tamburo helps simulate Moore pretty well. But Tamburo's playbook he brought along isn't an advantage, Richt's welcome at the open practices because Peterson knows he can outcoach Mark Richt.

  5. Oh, I agree J. Knowing what's coming, and stopping it are two very different things. Offense is about execution, and if you execute properly, you should be able to tell the defense what's coming when you line up and still be successful.

  6. While I agree this should not be based solely on talent, let's not get carried away with records here. Only 1/10 of Boise's games during Moore's time have been against BCS opponents. Let's get past these apple to orange "record" comparisons.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Nah, let's do get caught up in records. How bout Moore's 5-1 record vs. ranked teams to Murray's 0-5? Like that one. Bet you're not a fan of that apples to apples comparison.

    ReplyDelete
  8. So Moore has 3 years with just 6 games against ranked teams where his team can get up after resting against cupcakes, and Murray has almost as many in just one season, as a FR surrounded by ineptitude and out of shape players? That's still not apples and apples to me.

  9. Ranked teams is ranked teams fellas.

    ReplyDelete
  10. And one in a bowl game with another during the year is different than 5 throughout the season, especially doing so at a program clicking on all cylinders at it's apex vs doing so as a true freshman trying to steer a sinking ship.

  11. Boise in last 5 years is #1 vs. top 25 teams who eneded up in the top 25. That's execution boys. Something Bobo knows nothin about.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Over the last 5 year,s no one's taken Boise seriously because of their lack of 5 star "talent". And people in AP Poll over-valued Richt because of his talent. But execution matters more son. Boise was #1 most UNDERRATED over last 5 years in AP Poll, UGA was #4 most OVERRATED.

Richt, and AP Poll preseaosn voters, think Richt can just show up with his superior talent and win games. And they all take Boise's excellence at execution for granted.

"Ranked teams is ranked teams fellas"

Really? Now look I ain't sayin' UGA wins this game because this game means way WAY more to Boise than it does UGA (and UGA has a real team the next week not a MT.West team). However, when your claim to fame is beating Chokelahomo in a Bowl game....well that is like an SEC school crowing about beating Ohio State in a bowl game, or being all pround because you got with a fat slut. Chokelahomo is garbage. A ranked team is not a ranked team at all. You see the rankings are complied by coaches and the media. Now in any given year the truth is the SEC has 8-10 teams that should be in the top 25 but they won't get that. Bill or Bob who writes for the Sacramento Inquisitor or the Kalamazoo Reporter is going to live in a fantasy world where some middle of the pack Pac-12 or Big Tenlevine team gets ranked. If Boise was beating legit teams I could see your point. Some teams they have beaten are legit but not all of them. Oh, you beat a team that ran the table in the ACC that means you out witted and performed a retard. Congrats on that one.
There is and has for sometime been an Anti-SEC bias by the media and other conferences. Look at the Heisman voting for Bradford. Tebow was left off the ballot by almost every voter in the Southwest. You think that was just by chance? Everyone down plays the SEC at every turn. The result is lots of teams get ranked that should not be ranked.
I will say this for Boise-- If your DC can't out fox Bobo then forget any talk of you getting to be the sacraficial lamb for the SEC champion in New Orleans. Also, good call with Georgia. I mean it ain't like y'all asked for Bama in the Dome. You got a program that has been in decay for 4 to 5 years now, but no one outside of the South realizes that. If you beat UGA then "They are an SEC team" and Boise gets instant street cred. I respect the attempt to back door a spot in the National Title game. That is true Cold-Bloodedness and we respect that around here.

    ReplyDelete
  15. A 9-4 SEC team might make it into the top 25 at the end of the year. Voters account for differences. But still, if you can beat 5 out of 6 ranked teams, where Murray is 0-5, advantage Moore.

  16. J, looking to the past to predict the future? Lets turn back to a game in '05...

  17. We're 6-7 man, it not's a time to go around acting all smiley, like everything's rosy? It's not approritate given the context here, to be happy. Wait until you see it on the field, Right now, we're a depressing 6-7 team that lost to Colorado.

  18. Hey J, you didn't forget the rest of your moniker did you? You sound an awful lot like JDawg that got banned (doesn't happen often) from Get The Picture just a few days ago. I keep waiting for you to bring up how Washaun Ealy was the greatest back to ever play at UGA (including Walker) based on yards per carry and td's per carry. WE also decided to leave 'cause Richt wouldn't hand him the staring job.

I don't know that I would spend much time trying to reason with J, he tends to make insane arguments based on a wide range of statistics that don't compare well against each other.

I guess you could say it's not J's information that's bad, it's his execution.

  19. I don't prefer homer sites. I know some people like the all positive sites, not me. I like guys that when your ship is sinking, don't smile and tell you how pretty your boat is. I got no use that kind of sugarpuff. But different strokes. Nice effort to distract from topic. I'm a Sports & Grits fan, they're the only ones that tell the truth, even if it's U-G-L-Y, and it usually is. Do your homework before take on the J son.

    ReplyDelete
  20. What? Which homework? Are you saying you're not the same guy? You just happen to be a J that spews the same lame ass arguments, types in the exact same style, particularly trying to use the insulting "son" when addressing people you believe are inferior in intellect?
So last year sucked. We are not 6-7. We are 0-0. There's a difference between being a "realist" and taking comfort in wallowing in the deepest of despair over the program. I understand if you don't like homer sites, fine. Do you even like the Dawgs? How 'bout the SEC? You quite obviously don't believe there's anything elite about the southeastern conference. If you did, there's absolutely no way you could compare playing an SEC schedule to playing tulsa, toledo, air force, san jose state, etc.
So you're an S&G fan? Me too! I don't agree with everything they say, but I still enjoy the viewpoint and obvious humor they bring to the table. Have you read the blogs here over the last week? How in the world did you choke down the prediction we'd go 12-0 the other day? These guys aren't blind Richt followers, but since he's definitely gonna be the coach this season, they're willing to give him a chance to turn it around. What's the point in going on Dawg Sites (these guys are Dawg fans if you didn't know it - Homers?) and killing our program during the week before the season kicks off? Desperate for attention?

  21. J,

No need to become a stat NERD to prove a point...plus, your point is putting a Sr. against a So. in your nerdy stat throw down...get a life bro!

Yes, we had a sh!t year last year...but guess what, it's a NEW year with a CLEAN record! If you want to keep that crap on your shoe you stepped in last week, that's just fine with me...but no one else is gonna want to come near ya. Everyone is well aware of the short comings of last year, and even the past 3 years for that matter...but right now, at this time...everyone's 0-0. So until we're 6-7 or whatever, S.T.F.U! You can spit all your f'in stats to the NERDS on N. Ave come Nov., and they'll prob get all over your nutz...till then sit back, pop a cold one(prob a wine cooler for you), and watch some much anticipated UGA football!

In the end, not too many people really give a sh!t about stats from years past...only stats from this year, and at this point we have none!

PSSSSST! That a cold brew here, and a toast to the 2011 version of the mean ass, red & black wearin, hard hittin, mofo's in the best damn college town in f'in America!! HOW BOUT THEM DAWGS BABY!!!! GO DAWGS!!!!

  22. I guess David Pollack isn't a fan either, he's been bringing up the truth about Richt's win decline from 11 to 10 to 8 to 6 wins. Said it on ESPN yesterday. 3 time UGA ALL-American who loves UGA. I guess you label anyone opposed to mediocrity as a bad guy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nope, just douche bag internet posters. Like you said, he's an all-american bad-ass. You're just an ass. I guess I missed the part where he went on about what a overrated hack Aaron Murray was compared to St Moore. Oh, and nice straw man. You're right, because we don't care for the full-retard argument you bring, we're definitely for mediocrity.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I guess Herschel Walker isn't a fan either, cuz he said, we ain't gonna win no games thowing the ball around with some California offense, that the SEC was about running the ball. Murray's not the problem, it's Bobo. Don't mess with J man son, don't you learn?

  25. -Newnan Dawg and J

ALRIGHT! That is just about enough. If y'all don't stop we are gonna ban y'all......No wait a minute that ain't right....We are gonna get banned...no wait....Oh just do what you want.

The Bannees will never become Bannors.

  27. -Newnan Dawg

Hey man, I feel your pain I get into pissing matches all the time over here. I also feel J's pain in the same way.
I don't know if he was banned by anyone else and I also don't question the actions of another blogger (well unless of course that action is banning us) but regardless J has a forum here and you sir also have the ability to counter with no objection from us. In fact our only complaint ever was posting an obsurd argument and then loggin in under Anon and complimenting your own argument.
We love and appreciate both of you (see we can be warm and fuzzy with our fanbase).

    ReplyDelete
  28. Did I post as anon? Pretty sure I kept it Newnan Dawg all the way down... I really don't want to give the impression of trolling. Anon @ 1:57 (while I agree) was definitely not me, it took me damn near forever to write that post above it, edit it, switch tabs when the boss walked by, etc...
    Thanks for the great blog.

  29. -Newnan Dawg

No not you...just in general that is the only thing we have ever complained about.

We know exactly who it was and it was not you. Please post away good sir.
