Georgia lands a big recruit out of Atlanta

Brandon Morris, a 6'7 combo F out of Miller Grove, announced his intentions to join Mark Fox's program after a weekend official visit. Fox had a lot of big time targets in this past weekend, so it's nice that things went well enough to snag someone.
As for what Morris brings to the table, he seems like a quality glue guy, in the same vein although maybe more athletic, than Marcus Thornton. He still has a ways to go offensively, but defensively, size and athleticism makes me think of former fan favorite Chris Daniels, who has toiled away carving out a nice career in Europe since leaving Athens. If that's what we're getting, it's a great pick up. Add him to Gaines and Mann, and that's 3 solid program fillers. Not stars, but talented players who can grow and develop and provide lots of production over 3-4 years. It's a great core to a class. All that's missing is a full time Shaq Goodwin (or Robert Carter if Goodwin is wanting to play football), and a wing shooter. Morris doesn't bring much of an outside shot reportedly. Gaines and Mann are better, but neither are gonna bring back memories of Ezra Williams or Jody Patton. Not a bad start, with potential targets still on the table (especially the two big men). I'm a bit wary of putting all our eggs in their basket down low, and I'll add again, the time requirements of football drops two stars from Goodwin's 5 star status. But with our system, we need makers from the outside, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is the only one we really have right now going forward (as Robinson will be gone after this year, and Brantley didn't look like much in year 1).
