Is Richt safe if he beats Florida?
Yes. Next question.
CCRider says----- No. Next Question (Here your writer/editors disagree)
Ah, the important question, will we beat Florida? That won't be answered for a few more days. Do we look like the superior team on paper, again the answer is yes. But Richt had the better team in 2002, 2003, 2005 (even without DJ), and were as good or better in 2008 (we were higher ranked going in to that game mind you. And even if you consider that national title Florida team better, they damn sure weren't 49-10 better) and 2010. Yet those all ended in losses because it's too hot down there, or the refs, or any of a number of immaterial excuses he's thrown out for why we piss ourselves in Duval County.
The real question in my mind is does Richt believe that this game will determine his future at UGA. My Guess is he doesn't. The next question is will UGA win. Unfortunately I don't think they will. Why won't Richt and UGA win well it's because Richt has no idea how to motivate his players to victory where as most other coaches in the SEC do know how to motivate. Jerseys = fail, Dancing in endzone = partial fail due to ramifications by SEC officiating crews across the board. You might say well Fed up we won vs Auburn and Hawaii. True but it wasn't the jerseys that had the team hyped up it was the fact we were jumped by LSU so we played in the Sugar Bowl with a chip on our shoulder. Plus it was Hawaii. Oh but Fed up it worked in the Auburn game. That can be debated since we almost gave the game away and it took Moreno supermanning that ho to win. My point is Richt has a terrible track record with his motivational ploys. I hate to say this but the type of motivation it takes to beat a bitter rival is very similar to what slUrban Cryer did when we were dancin in the endzone. He played a clip of that on every flat screen on campus. He put it on the big screen during work outs and practices, he had the team run extra stadium steps for every point UGA in the game and they did this all season until we played them. I shouldn't have to remind you of the score. But incase some of you forgot it was 49-10. Motivation is key. UGA has nothing but excuses.
ReplyDeleteI blame it on Florida always having a bye week before the game. That is a huge advantage.
ReplyDeleteNo, Richt has to beat at least 1 ranked team in 2011 to keep his job.
ReplyDeleteThe bye week plays a huge role in the outcome of the winner in the game. Florida has almost always taken a bye prior to Jacksonville where the years that Georgia has done the same, they have played better. This is usually the 7th or 8th game of a long, tough SEC shedule each year for both programs. It's a perfect time for a bye week and I wonder why each school has failed to take the bye the week before Jacksonville each year up until now? In any case, I think the bye week along with the weaker teams coming into the bye makes UGA the stronger team for this matchup. If we can play up to our potential, we should win the game.
ReplyDeleteGO DAWGS! BEAT FLORIDA !
Coach Richt must finish in the top 25 or else time for changing of the guard.
ReplyDeleteRicht can't beat a ranked team. He's turning his record into CUPCAKE U.
ReplyDeleteEven if we finish 10-2, we aren't going to beat a team that is ranked at the end of the regular season.
ReplyDeleteUGA beat Vandy 43-0 last year.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, Mark Richt hasn't beat 1 ranked team since 2009.
ReplyDeletePathetic.
Who cares if he wins out, the 5 teams are all bad.
how is Georgia the stronger team....Florida favored by 1.5
ReplyDeleteBetter at WR (If Mitchell's healthy), better at RB (Demps and Rainey are big play only sprites, not sustained drive backs), better at TE, better on the DL, as good on the OL, QB, LB, and DB. Yes better. Just cause Florida is favored means Vegas is expecting that to be where the money is, and knows (or thinks bettors will follow) history
