Now the Senator has two articles from which he pulled this story which can be found:
Here, and
Here.
The first one is awesome....but the second one.....well lets just say it is the stuff of LEGEND! You don't actually have to click the link because I am going to cut and past a majority of the tastier morsels right now.
If you don't know what the 411 is on this let me tell you. SMU beat TCU 40-33 in overtime this Saturday. It marked the first time in 11 years that June Jones was able to beat Gary Patterson. Now SMU and TCU are historically comparable programs. However, in the past decade TCU has left SMU behind. Recently SMU has finally decided to care about Football again after the diarrhea storm that was Craig James, dead hookers, and the death penalty. SMU hired June Jones who is by all accounts probably the best coach that SMU could hope to have. Jones you will remember brought respectability to Hawaii (and Hawaii was subsequently prison shanked in New Orleans by the Dawgs--while he had already left the mentality of BVG was still at Georgia but that Sugar Bowl marked the end of his influence and the end of Defense in Athens). What most of us did not know is this:
First of all Jones went all Carolina Gamecock and started talking smack despite the fact that the win was his first ever against Patterson. Jones then accused the Guru of the 4-2-5 and his right hand man, Dity Dick, of not changing very much. It would appear that June Jones is not impressed with Patterson and it only took 11 years to figure him out. Of course one does not disrespect the Norse god of Thunder and Lightening with some degree of repercussion.
Patterson began a rant on SMU by noting Jones has won one game against Patterson's Frogs during his time at SMU, and prior to that, at Hawaii.
"He hasn't changed much either, so if we want to get into those kinds of matches. But, I don't go there," Patterson said. "All we've ever tried to do here at TCU is help SMU. At some point in time we were going to get beat by them, so we got beat by them. We've helped them, let them come over and talked to them about how we do things academically, how we do things at the stadium, how we do everything to try to make their program better and their way of thanking us for that is to cut us down."
Uh-oh Scrooby.....You done up and done it now.....DO NOT POKE THE WILDLIFE!!
Patterson then, much to the delight of the TCU reporters, went on............................................
"SMU has had a lot of help from us over the last three or four years to improve their program," Patterson said. "I don't appreciate being treated the way it is; that's how we got reciprocated. We're going to go on about our business, but they're not going to get the same help anymore -- not about a ballgame, not about conferences, not about anybody. They're getting no help from Gary Patterson, period.
Your eyes are not deceiving you. Gary Patterson did in fact make reference to Gary Patterson in the third person whilst in the midst of a triad. G-R-E-A-T-N-E-S-S!!!!!!! Also, I don't know all the rules of grammar but I'm pretty sure that when Gary Patterson says "period" then you don't need to actually place a period after that.
"They shouldn't ask me at SMU about going into a conference, they shouldn't ask me about how they play, they shouldn't ask me about their players, they shouldn't ask me about anything because they're not getting any help, period, any more. Because we've bent over backwards to make sure that they can improve their program because I believe that's what you do....So, us winning and doing things, the older group of alumni around here have a certain feeling about SMU. I didn't have that feeling, but I'm getting it."
Now you might not know this but SMU is a candidate for the Big East but so long as TCU keeps their commitment and doesn't jump to the Big 12 it sounds like GP might put the kabash to SMU.
June Jones' decision to channel his inner-douche a'la his mentor Jerry Glanville was just insult to injury on the heels of TCU fans and administration almost rioting over what was apparently the most horrible one-sided officiating this side of Ron Cherry giving "da' bitness" to Clampsun ( I normally don't buy into the sob stories of other programs but in all honesty Ron Cherry hates Clampsun).
"The key to it is I'd be quiet about it if I thought the people in charge of the officiating group came out and said it wasn't very good. But, they didn't," Patterson said. "I have a hard time with people that don't admit they made mistakes. I've got to do it all the time. When you're just going to be quiet about it and you think it's just all going to go away, it's not going to go away.
Most egregious of the calls, Patterson said, was a pass interference call on the first play of the game that negated an interception by TCU cornerback Jason Verrett and resulted in an SMU touchdown. On SMU's next possession, Patterson said the crew missed an obvious motion penalty. The Mustangs then scored on a 71-yard pass play for a 14-0 lead.
So what happens when GP gets pissed? Well conferences get to apologizing.
On Tuesday, Patterson said TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte told him that C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky called him, acknowledged that the game was poorly officiated and that he would make a public statement.
No need to double check that one. The Commissioner of C-USA called and apologized and admitted that they tried to cheat. He did this in hopes that he would not suffer the same impending fate of the officials because:
"I got their names," Patterson said of the officiating crew. "They won't come back in this stadium ever again."
Now we will go ahead and assume that the quote went on to say:
"YEAH! THAT'S RIGHT I GOT THEIR NAMES, THEIR WIVES NAMES, THEIR KIDS NAMES, THE NAMES OF THE RETIREMENT HOMES WHERE THEIR PARENTS ARE! I GOT ALL THAT BIZNESS, SON! YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I GOT? I GOT DIRTY DICK DOWN AT THE CIRCLE K WITH THE FOOTBALL DEPARTMENT GAS CARD AND ABOUT 50 SOON TO BE FULL GAS CANS!
We lose to inferior programs and we compliment them, we show them respect, and we try to tell our fan-base that it is just something we need to accept. Patterson loses to an inferior program and he threatens the lives and well being of their Coach and the officials! Gary Patterson is a Cold Blooded Sausage Maker for really real, son!

So just to be clear, you want to fire a coach who won in the past and now loses to teams he should beat, who was a great offensive coordinator and now has a struggling offense. You want to replace him with a coach who won in the past and is now losing to teams he should beat...who was once a great defensive coordinator and now has a struggling defense. You want to do this because Patterson is a sore loser and Richt is not. .
ReplyDeleteu suck
ReplyDeleteYada yada yada. Let me guess. This is gonna be a big deal to Patterson. Patterson won't forget. Patterson mad...stomp feet, jump up and down, and pout.
ReplyDeleteMan up. You got beat twice in a year by inferior teams. You were out coached three times. Twice on the field and then by helping the enemy. You helped freaking SMU all these years. What a flaming moron. Why not just play with 10 men on the field or give away your game plan while you are at it. That might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard a coach complain about....I helped them to become better and they beat me. Well duh.
You know the beady eyed weasly genius at BSU is not helping anybody....except himself to the UGA job if our admin has the balls to stop accepting average and go after greatness. Welcome to UGA Mr. Peterson. I am hear with a U-haul and the entire Bulldawg nation to help you pack.
In the mean time I will sit idly by and watch the Richtophile and the Pattersonophile make excuses for everything that goes wrong and then champion every little character trait they see as proof that their coach is great. Hey i am sure religion and post game rants are great substitutes for actually winning.
Big shock,
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that these guys define their reality by what they watched in pro rasslin' matches when they were 6.
Big Shock,
ReplyDeleteAnswer was too long for a comment because there was so much wrong with your logic. Forthcoming in post in about 5 min.
Big Shock,
ReplyDeleteYour answer now exists in the Blog O'Sphere.
CCrider, as i posted before in this blog
ReplyDeleteU SUCK !!!!!!! U FREAKING GATOR FAN
Why does CC suck? The only flaw I see is he is a Pattersonophile. How is that any worse than being a Richtophile?
ReplyDeleteI think it would be easy to make the argument that being a Pattersonophile is not as bad as being a Richtophile as it is at least a change. While over the long haul it will lead to the same desolate hole of mediocrity we are currently in at least we will have different scenary on the way.
Now if you are one of the few brave enough...one of the few true cold blooded sausage makers actually seeking a change to greatness in the form of Peterson then you can definitely say "CC you suck".
Please define richtophile, the way u perceive it ! If that means in love with him as a coach and a person then ok that's me but so is the rest of the dawg nation that matters. Don't get me wrong if richt loses much more I will turn into a smartophile real quick he deserves his shot and theirs not a better place than uga for him to get that chance ! If richt really screws up any more than he already has by not replacing bozo
ReplyDeleteAs a retired Junior College coach I can tell you that Patterson may make the news and be a favorite of folks who like the theatrics of wrestling but he couldn't carry Mark Richt's jock strap. Coaching and playing in the SEC is that big a step in the athletes, the speed, and the professionalism. Trust me, don't look to hard and longingly at the green grass on the other side of the fence.
ReplyDelete-Anon @4:50
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Petersen is that for some reason Richt-O-Philes don't sharpen swords and call for a holy war when you mention his name. It is the same with Leach. ROP's ignore Leach because they do not think him a real candidate, and they either don't think Petersen a real candidate; or they see enough Richt in him to be ok with his getting the job. Richt-o-Philia for many is more about a perceived image than anything. They go crazy over Patterson because he doesn't fit that image and they know he would be a winner at UGA. Although Petersen is an upgrade over Richt for the simple fact that he comes sans-Bobo.
-Anon @5:07 pm
A Richt-O-Phile is someone who places the love of the "image" of Mark Richt over the good of the program. They also find things not named winning and consider them to be of equal importance with winning. Although, in their heart or hearts they know they are being untrue to themselves. They consider Richt's religious affiliation to equate to his being a good football coach when in truth that has nothing to do with coaching (and when we say that they automatically assume that we are anti-Christian).
-Anon @6:03
You have to give us more than that. I have given a number of posts and reasons for Patterson but all I hear in opposition is broad, sweeping, general statements like this or an attachment to success that occured six years ago. We also get a lot of almosts, ifs, and buts. Were ifs and buts candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas.
Smartophile !!!
ReplyDeleteIf folks are going to rag on MR for losing to inferior teams then they had better give equal treatment to GP. He sounds like a cry baby about officiating. And, don't tell me MR hasn't seen his/UGAs share of bad calls. The last one happened last Saturday when it was determined that IC stepped out of bounds on a 50 yard TD run. I never saw him step out and it looks like a bad call. I have also never seen MR rag on another team the way Patterson did about SMU. I think the reason some have a love affair with GP is that he screams and shows a lot of emotion and doesn't bite his tongue.
ReplyDeletePatterson over Richt? Nah, I think we keep what we have as I don't think Patterson is a better coach which is now starting to become evident. Keep the one we have and let the cry baby try to beat June Jones and the ponies next year.
Wake me up when you have something of interest to say. ZZZZzzzzz
ReplyDeleteDon't know if you were talking to me anon @ 9:34 (I am the post above you). If so, how about "Patterson ain't coming to UGA." MR may well still be at UGA next year or he may not. But, Patterson will not be the next UGA coach.
ReplyDelete"The first one is awesome....but the second one.....well lets just say it is the stuff of LEGEND! You don't actually have to click the link because I am going to cut and past a majority of the tastier morsels right now."
ReplyDeleteThat might be the best paragraph ever on the Internet.
