But a look at Wofford. You'll be somewhat familiar with them from their recent appearances in the NCAA Tourney. But that was a team led by players since departed, so we've got a new Wofford team to look at that won't be the same as the one you may have seen last year, and there is no film on them as they had no public exhibitions.
And this won't be easy, as Mike Young's a good coach, and he beat us in Athens two years ago with a team that was small, but spread the floor and played smart. They hustled hard and fought on D, with a Princeton style offense of cuts and quality shooting and passing. That was what they looked like then, and I'd expect more of the same. With our longer, athletic team defensively, that should help considerably neutralizing their smart game. But it takes us playing focused and together, or else you get burned.
Player wise, they only return one starter (Sr G Brad Loesing). They return no one who scored more than him (6.4) or had even 2 rebounds per. But the players they return have logged a lot of years in the system, so they may have just been waiting their turn behind the talented Dahlman, Diggs, etc. Among their FR class is former Walton HS and Wheeler HS star Karl Cochran. He just may be their starting PG and is a helluva player. He is one to watch against us, as he was dominant across the board for Walton last year, and will be motivated to look good both at home and in his college debut.
The Spartanburg school also has a nominee for the all-name team, Australian freshman G Indiana Faithfull.
The Dawgs vs. the Terriers, let's hope that fight ends like it would with real life canines.
