| This is my Pimp Hand and trust me son it is way strong. |
The three big names circling the AnM opening are Sumlin from Houston (an offensive mind), Strong from Louisville (a defensive mind with deep SEC recruiting ties), and of course K-Smart. So what if Kirby is the choice? After all he can bring Deep South recruiting ties and he is considered a defensive guru. Meanwhile, back in Athens Toddy Grahams wants his money honey. Can you blame him? Not only is he doing a lights out job he is doing it while being yoked by the millstone that is I Has A Crayon. So if Kirby gets the job, with AnM, and they are willing to spend the money, and they want to surround Kirby with a strong staff.......where do you think their first call will be going? Grantham runs essentially the same Defense that Bama runs and just in case Kirby ain't quite ready for prime time......well how about someone who has successfully implemented the same Defense in the SEC at his right hand?
Of course it could also mean that Bama is in the hunt for a new DC with Smart's departure and we all know that no price is too high for Mal Moore. Grantham would get his money, greater exposure, and a better chance of getting the call to go back to the NFL in a few years.

Texas A&M is looking for a HC with some actual head coaching experience. RIght now Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin is catching a lot of love everywhere. ;-) Everywhere. It's trendy .... but not practical. Charlie Strong has been in the SEC before ... gets a lot of cred for helping place some bling on some fingers while at UF. In spite of what "private baggage" he is perceived to possess. He knows the area and has won here before and has a history with the Aggies as a grad assistant. After blowing some first half leads this past season.... they could use a little "Strong D Love"
ReplyDeletejust sayin'
I'm pretty sure CTG's contract stipulates he can only terminate his contract with us early if he gets a HC offer at the collegiate level, or an NFL coordinator or HC offer.
ReplyDeleteAs going to Bama or A&M to be DC would be a lateral move, it would violate his contract with us. We have him locked up for 2012 and McGarity needs to go ahead and lock him up til 2017!!! GO DAWGS!!!!!!!

CTG isn't going to move laterally to another college DC job. He will either move on to be a HC, or go back to the NFL.
ReplyDeleteToo bad McGarity doesn't have the necessary anatomical accoutrements to force Richt to sxxt- can "I Has A Crayon" or else to do it himself. "Millstone" is absolutely the correct descriptive term.
ReplyDeleteRight on, lock Grantham up. He's better than Smart. Then again, we have the dumbest AD in the country who schedules #5 teams for home openers.
